USB mobile broadband modems + macs - Why are they so tricky to work ?

I know this is just not me. There is so much wrong with all of these pricey modem sticks. For starters they stick out from the USB port on a laptop. But the real and utter mess is the software.

Last month I felt like I was battling with Vodafone on a weekly basis as no one seemed to have any idea how the software worked on a mac. The software on the modem crashed leopard the software ( and get this its... Read more

New iPhone specifications Summer 2009

Here are the specs for the new iPhone, given the Palm Pre release in June I see most, if not all of these features being present - most of these come from an iphoneapps.com post of 19/5

32GB and 16GB to replace current capacities
$199 and $299 price-points to be maintained
3.2 Megapixel camera
Video recording & editing capabilities
Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
Discontinuation of the metal band... Read more

Apple to release MacPad - 9 inch touch device

Apple have never bought into the idea that laptop can have anything but a 13 inch physical keyboard. But enter into the touch world and the possibility of a larger touch pad machine seems obvious and something I am sure we will see by the end of this year.

Priced mid way between a iphone and a Macbook the MacPad will have mutitouch and hand gestures built into to its interface. Kinda like a Newton message pad... Read more

Must be - New iPhone Pro - June 8th

With Apple opening channels to no contract iPhones in the US and the same with Play.com selling them here in the UK we must be on for the 3rd generation iPhone and iPhone Pro on June 8th when the Apple developers conference opens and we presume the iPhone OS 3.0 comes out. What with the Palm Pre joining the party around this time expect an iPhone with the following for sure:

Faster processor
Larger storage... Read more

Where is the Palm Pre launch date?

There we were at CES all excited, but now with the buds of spring already out how come there is no summer launch date for the Pam Pre. Palm has to get this out to have a chance in hell of survival and unless they are going to upgrade some features pretty soon the Pre might be challenged as soon as it released. I did e-mail Palm PR reps about why the Pre was not a tri band phone, didn't they think most smart phone... Read more

Will new iPhone software need new hardware and more Ghz oomph

Well there you go iPhone users two years down the line you get cut copy and paste, but hats off to Apple the phone is really at a tipping point of functionality when it come to different usage and they have probably made this stuff work better by waiting.

I do fear though the lack of things like flash support really means this summer we will have a new iphone probably same form factor but a lot swapped out... Read more

17.3 = 3.0 for the iPhone

So we are going to get a peek at what's in the works with the 3.0 release for the iphone next week. This will probably be rolled on the this summer just in time to quash the release of Palm's Pre no doubt. This may mean an ability to switch apps without closing, cut and paste and push notification will be a sure thing ?

No doubt Apple will have one of two new tricks up their sleeve and that must leave the likes... Read more

Skip the new iPod shuffle it's just too small

So the third gen iPod shuffle is here it's so sleek it only has one button on it, in fact you could almost miss the Apple logo all together on the clip but I think it has two major downsides. The one that most people are already picking up on is that now the controls are on the earphones, you will be stuck with the Apple ones for quite a while to control the thing. But for me the real downside is this thing is... Read more

Kindle on the iPhone -It's a generation thing

To really get the next ebooks thing I think it will all be about a generational shift.

People will read books on devices sometime soon but they will grow up doing that, they will be used from school onward to seeing text on screen.

All the razz this about the Kindle software on the iPhone seems so overblown - granted you can get a book wherever you are (in the US) on to your phone but who really wants to... Read more
