Amazon broadens on-premise storage features

Amazon has given datacentre administrators greater control over its on-premise AWS Storage Gateway technology via a set of APIs.

Google: Inertia blocks enterprise cloud adoption

The greatest issue that stops businesses from adopting cloud services is inertia, according to Google.

Google opens BigQuery cloud analytics to all

Google is making its BigQuery cloud analytics service generally available, almost two years after it was first trialled.

The analytics tool, which lets developers mine databases of up to 2TB in size, is now open to businesses, Google announced on Tuesday. Companies can query up to 100GB of data per month for free, though they will need to pay for storage.

The Government has had to extend its consultation on defining open standards and how they can be used in its IT, after a discussion facilitator failed to disclose their links with Microsoft.
