Press Release

Elite Devices Partners with Vonage & The Cloud and looks forward to customers being able to make wireless VoIP calls at any of The Clouds 7,000 UK hotspots.

[Liverpool, UK, 10th July 2006]

Elite Devices has partnered with Vonage UK and The Cloud to offer the Vonage VoIP Service over The Cloud’s UK wireless broadband network and to resell Vonage Residential Unlimited and Small Business Unlimited subscription packages to its SME, Residential and Enterprise User Base.

Vonage users will access The Cloud’s network via their Wi-Fi phone as soon as they are within range. There will be no password or user logon process; users will pick up the Wi-Fi signal strength and be able to make and receive calls immediately. Pricing will be included in the standard £7.99 a month “Residential Unlimited” package from Vonage, which includes unlimited calls to UK and Irish landlines as well as to other Vonage customers wherever they are in the world.

The deal between Elite Devices, Vonage and The Cloud will see Vonage customers using their Wi-Fi phone whenever they are in range of a hotspot from The Cloud. These include all major UK airports, First Great Western train stations, Coffee Republic outlets, Little Chef cafes, Swallow Hotels, as well as over 4,000 pubs and regional hotels across the country.

Elite Devices has been involved within the Public WLAN industry for a number of years and supplied the Bluetooth Access Points for the first Public Wireless Hotspot in Manchester in 2001. Elite Devices is recognised as a niche distributor of WiFi, Bluetooth and VOIP Solutions to over 3500 resellers and retailers as well as having a rapidly growing end user base. They first trialled WiFi VOIP handsets within Public WiFi Hotspots back in 2002 and now stock the largest range of WiFi VOIP Handsets in the world.

The next stage of Elite Devices’ plan is to offer their own VOIP solution to end users offering subsidised WiFi VOIP Handsets much as the Incumbent Mobile Operators do at present.

Elite Devices Director, Ron Pye, says: “We have battled to offer a Wi-Fi roaming network for a number of years now and we are delighted to partner with Vonage and offer over 7,000 hotspots in the UK and over 20,000 globally. We are staging a number of marketing events across the UK over the next 3 months promoting WiFi Hotspots. I am always amazed that so many Laptop users don’t know that there is now a WiFi Hotspot in almost every Pub, every McDonald’s, every Starbucks and every Hotel chain in the country and yet an inferior expensive solution such as 3G Data Cards are winning in the battle for users.”

Pye states “The real value of our relationship with Vonage & The Cloud lies in their future product roadmap with the launch of Ultra WiFi.”

In addition to conventional Wi-Fi coverage, The Cloud is also launching a number of city centre hotzones in Birmingham, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham and Oxford, along with the London boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Camden and Islington.

These urban hotzones draw on the Cloud’s extensive experience gained from deploying large scale sites like Canary Wharf, The British Library and The Royal Festival Hall in London. Later this year The Cloud will be deploying a ground-breaking Wi-Fi network across the entire Square Mile in London – all of which will be accessible to Vonage users.

“We also have our own Bluetooth and WiFi Mobile VOIP Solutions which offer Free Voice calls, Free Instant Messaging and Free SMS Messaging. Our experience in offering WiFi VOIP Handsets to our end user base has put us in a good position as the volumes of WiFi VOIP Handsets ramp up over the coming years”

“We are also offering a number of GSM/WiFi Handsets which are really going to shake the Mobile industry up once end users realise the cost savings possible”
