Asus Eee, Linux sync with Outlook PIM / smartphone

Hi - I'm looking at buying an Asus Eee and am a total novice to Linux - which will likely show in my question. The thing that's holding me back from buying is the Eee's Linux 2.0.4 absence of a PIM (contacts, diary etc) which I have in the form of Outlook on my desktop and Windows smartphone. Is there such a beast in the world of Linux and how can I get it to sync with my desktop and smartphone?. I hope it's possible as I don't want to have to wait for the XP version Eee.
