Brief overview of the role:

The Site based Field Maintenance Engineer will be part of a well managed team responsible for day-to-day administration of network equipment and workstations with associated peripherals working on a on a shift-rota/callout basis.

 

The role will involve liaising with customers to ensure the timely investigation and resolution of all reported faults against defined Service Level Agreements.  Additionally the successful candidate will carry out repairs either at the user location or in a workshop environment.  Work will also including the preparation and configuring of portable IT equipment for remote access use.

 

We are looking for an experienced individual capable of working in highly pressurised situations.

Key Skills Experience & Knowledge:

Key Skills

·         Proven experience/responsibilities across a number of IT functions/disciplines:

o    Corrective investigation/maintenance of all network enabled workstation assets and associated peripherals

o    Processing all new IT network equipment requests. (IMAC?s)

o    Carrying out equipment SW & HW builds including imaging, unit installation and/or removal.

o    Conditioning, storage and disposal of IT equipment.

o    PAT testing of IT equipment.

o    Task control/co-ordination and man-hour recording.

o    Inventory transfers of IT equipment.

o    Liaison with computer security staff on security matters.

o    IT Support for deployed workstations with network connectivity. (Dell, Elonex & HP)

o    Configuration and deployment of Laptops.

o    Responsible for the carrying out scheduled maintenance tasks as directed by management.

o    Carrying out any IT related tasks as directed through the relevant management chain.

o    Diagnostic testing and repair of software related incidents.

People Skills

·         Customer Facing Skills in a Service Environment.

·         Ability to interact at all levels.

Experience & Knowledge

·         Knowledge of MoD station structure.

·         Understanding of MoD network Infrastructure.

·         Knowledge/Understanding of working in a Workshop environment.

·         Experience of Active Directory networks.

·         Experience of XP Desktop deployment.

·         Experience/Understanding of Remote Access technology and its use.

·         Hardware accreditations of desktop and laptop service and support for Dell and HP.

Qualifications and Experience:

·               Demonstrable knowledge and support experience in the following environments:

o    Windows Server 2003 Environment

o    Active Directory Network Service

o    Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager 2007 (Image deployment and creation)

o    Windows XP desktop

o    Windows Remote Access diagnostics and tools

o    Sunrise Service Desk tool

o    Remedy Service Desk software

·         2 years plus proven Desktop support experience.

·         Must carry a valid UK driving Licence.

·         Knowledge of MoD working practices and associated ?acronyms?.
