Systems and Network Administrator

To provide effective 2nd line customer support for the full range of my clients services in accordance with customer service objectives and participate in the operation and maintenance of systems and networks infrastructure to ensure service availability.

Customer support:
~ Provide 2nd level support to the customer support centres
~ Ensure that problems are escalated to 3rd level support areas in a timely fashion
System and network administration:
~ Operational support and monitoring for networks components including customer dedicated Internet access, international & core ISP network, Datacentre network infrastructure
~ Administration and support of Unix (FreeBSD, Solaris, HPUX, LINUX) and Windows-based servers:
~ Internet service infrastructure including Radius/TACACS authentication servers, Domain Name Servers, Mail, Homepages, Newsfeeds, web content servers
~ EDI service infrastructure
~ Business Support systems
~ Customer servers  - managed and co-located
~ Response to alarms for systems and networks faults to ensure timely restoration of service
~ Assist in process improvement and task automation

Participate in an on-call rota for after-hours support of priority customers and services as a member of the Operations team. 

Previous desirable experience
~ Minimum of three years relevant technical experience in an IT or Internet operations/customer support environment supporting some of the following: Desktop systems, Dial-up networking, ISP authentication and Internet services, server O/S (Unix, Windows NT/2000), IIS, Apache, Cisco and/or Foundry network devices.  Experience with LAN/WAN and Windows/IP networking.

Skills & Qualifications
~ An excellent understanding of internet protocols and applications including TCP/IP, Radius, DNS, HTTP, SMTP, POP
~ An industry-recognised certification in Unix or Windows system administration, Networking or Network Security is desirable
~ Good communication skills in dealing with customers and escalations from support and sales areas
~ Good Troubleshooting skills - logical and systematic approach to problem solving
