Two graphics card vendors are pushing the price button to put 3D and TV capabilities within the grasp of mainstream users.

Orchid Technology's first 3D card, the Fahrenheit Video 3D is based on the ubiquitous S3 ViRGE accelerator and comes with 2Mb EDO RAM as standard, at about £128 on the street.

ATI's TV Tuner card will cost from under £90. Based on the ATI Multimedia Channel that also appears in IBM, ICL and Mitsubishi Apricot systems, it can be upgraded to support hardware MPEG.
