Internet audio streaming expert Progressive Networks is moving into video with the announcement of RealVideo 1.0. A beta of the Real Player is available now at the firm's Web site.

Seattle-based Progressive claims RealVideo works well over 28.8kbits/sec modems and offers full-motion video with the new generation of 56kbits/sec modems or over ISDN lines. Up to 500 simultaneous streams are available from one server. The company expects the tool to be used in Internet/intranet-based training and presentations.

Exclusive clips by acclaimed US film director Spike Lee are also available on the Web site.
