MS posts all-embracing IE patch

Microsoft has moved again to patch up its bug-bitten Internet Explorer Web browser. On Saturday, the firm posted a fix that covers all three security issues that made the news last week.

Available for download now from its Web site the patch fixes access problems found by students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute that would allow end-user hard drives to be wiped; a variation on the same theme found by an MIT student; and a bug found by a University of Maryland student, where users running Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 1 or 2 without firewalls could lose data.

On the same page, Microsoft also provides information about the nature of the bugs.
