A $1.1 billion (£0.68bn) patent lawsuit has been filed against Apple by a small medical imaging company, Imatec Ltd.

Imatec says Apple has violated three patents involving digital imaging in Apple's "Color Sync" color management systems. The patents are titled: "Method and System in Video Image Hard Copy Reproduction," "Method and System in Video Image Reproduction" and "Method and System for Improved Tone and Color Reproduction of Electronic Images on Hard Copy Using a Closed Loop Control."

Imatec is seeking a preliminary and permanent injunction against Apple and has asked for a jury trial.

Apple officials were not available for comment.
