BETT '99: BT to become training provider for schools

BT has bid as part of a consortium of educationalists and commercial bodies to become a government accredited training provider, it was revealed today.

The £230m government scheme aims to train UK teachers in vital computer skills. BT also intends to increase bandwidth to schools. No details are yet available, but an announcement is expected soon. A BT spokesman said: "Education is moving towards the commercial and pupils need the same skills as businesses," he said.
