Networks '99: Skills shortage threatens competitiveness

29 Jun 1999 11:17

GeoTrain warned today that companies which fail to address the skills shortfall for the deployment of converged voice and data systems risk losing competitive advantage.

GeoTrain's MD, Peter Olive, told ZDNet UK News at the Networks '99 conference in Birmingham that companies risk missing many of the potential advantages voice and data integration bring. "As demand outstrips supply for skills, the voice and data communications sector is threatened by the chronic skills crisis affecting the rest of the IT industry," said Olive. "Now is the time to act. Companies must invest in training their IT departments or risk being left behind".

GeoTrain is one of Cisco's main training partners.
