Girls online put boys to shame...

More teenage girls than boys use the Net in Britain. This is the surprising claim of a new study by U.K. analyst firm Fletcher Research published on Thursday.

Director of Fletcher Research, Neil Bradford, admits he is "amazed" by the findings. The research showed that, although 60 per cent of all Web users in the UK are male, 61 per cent of users in the under-18 groups are female.

Bradford puts the results down to teenage girls' interest in communicating with their friends using e-mail and chatrooms.
