News Burst: Red Hat blocks "unofficial" distribution

Shrink-wrap Linux pioneer RedHat says it won't support users of the unofficial free version of its operating system.

Some new Linux users are getting a lesson in "you get what you pay for".

Amazon.com auction users have been calling Red Hat Software for support for recently purchased CDs containing Red Hat Linux. Only one problem: These customers hadn't bought official Red Hat Linux.

And as of today, Red Hat released a statement acknowledging that it is not supporting users who are using the free version of its operating system.
