Computer services company will help get cops' computer systems safely through the millennium.

Sema Group, the Anglo-French computer services company, has been awarded a £125m contract to manage the Metropolitan Police's IT systems.

Sema will provide computer services to London's police for the next five years under the contract, and, starting in November, will also be responsible for warding off the cops' year 2000 problems.

As part of the deal, 210 Met IT staff will move over to Sema Group.
