Compaq has rolled out its first supercomputer, the AlphaServer SC Series.
The most powerful of its AlphaServer products so far, it features up to 128 AlphaServer SMP building blocks, each having around the same computing power of an 8 processor Cray C90 vector supercomputer. The blocks are managed as single system under Compaq's Tru64 Unix operating system.
The company also launched the rack design AlphaServer DS20E and the second addition to its AlphaStation product line, the AlphaStation DS20E.
