If you were one of the 165,000 in the UK with foresight and quick reflexes, your PlayStation2 is ready for collection

This will be a day long remembered in the history of gaming.

The biggest console launch the UK has ever seen happens today as PlayStation2s become available for collection.

Not everybody will be able to get their machine today but Sony are confident that the lucky 165,000 who have had their pre-orders confirmed will be able to get their sweaty paws on a machine by Christmas.

Already the lucky ones will be at home ripping apart the packaging, plugging the thing in and staring perplexed at the two tiny buttons at the front.
