Fancy a nice new big blue box in your server room this Christmas? And better still - one that says 'Google' on it? Well, your search is over because we have found the Christmas prize to beat them all: A Google Mini Search Appliance.
Now if you don't know what one of these is then you don't deserve to win one, but if you do have an inkling then read on. No special knowledge is required to get this up and running on your network, indexing and searching your content, and no additional software is required either; you just plug the Mini into your network and configure it.
To get started all you really need to do is tell the Google software which URLs to examine, then sit back as it crawls through the data and builds an index. It’s a very comprehensive process, with the Mini able to handle some 220 different files types, including Microsoft Office documents and PDFs as well as ordinary HTML, in a variety of languages.
Now, we want this prize to go some deserving soul who can demonstrate a degree of technical competence, so be sure to give us a great tie breaker (and we're giving you a whole 24 words to show off your technical prowess).
