BlackBerry 8800 in pictures

Research In Motion's new BlackBerry 8800 smartphone brings an updated look to the company's full QWERTY devices and crams in plenty of features. Take a look.

Like the BlackBerry Pearl, but bigger and better
The BlackBerry 8800 takes some style points from its slimmer sibling, the BlackBerry Pearl, and sports a sleek black casing and a trackball navigator.

A view from the top

The BlackBerry 8800 is also thinner (114mm by 66mm by 12.7mm; 133g) than previous full QWERTY BlackBerrys, such as the BlackBerry 8700g.

Left side

A 2.5mm headset jack, a mini USB port, and a customisable shortcut key are on the left spine of the device. The BlackBerry 8800 now has an integrated media player so you can enjoy music and video on your device; a microSD card slot is located behind the battery cover.

No more trackwheel

RIM has done away with the trackwheel that was on its older devices. Volume controls and a customisable shortcut key now reside on the right spine.

More than a messaging device

The BlackBerry 8800 retains all the email capabilities that made the platform famous in the first place, but also provides navigation functionality thanks to its integrated GPS and BlackBerry Maps software.
