Famous fraudster to speak at security show

Frank Abagnale, portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio in the film Catch Me If You Can, will deliver the keynote speech at this year's RSA Europe Conference

For a man who made his name dodging law enforcement, pitching up at a conference full of security specialists seems an odd move. But Frank W Abagnale, Jr is nothing if not contrary.

After years spent masquerading in different guises, including a pilot and a doctor, a spell in jail eventually led the one time fraudster to leave his life of crime and re-invent himself as a respected authority on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents.

Abagnale will deliver the keynote address at this year's RSA Conference Europe in London. Running from the 22 to 24 October in the ExCel conference centre, the show will feature other security industry luminaries including BT Counterpane's Bruce Schneier, and former FBI agent and Microsoft's chief security advisor Ed Gibson.

The RSA Europe show is hoping to build on the reputation of the US conference to establish itself as one of the must-attend events for IT security managers in Europe.

RSA Europe will feature over 100 sessions across 10 tracks including authentication, enterprise defence, hackers and threats, and wireless security, the organisers claim.

The US RSA Conference usually sees keynotes from most of the big tech luminaries including Bill Gates (pictured above at this year's show in February).
