We take a step-by-step look at configuring and using Apple's Time Machine system backup software.

Time Machine is one of the standout features of Apple's new Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system, providing an elegant solution to the problem of system backup. The above image shows the option to set up the backup location after hooking up an external hard drive.

If you accidentally unplug the external hard drive, it's no problem — Time Machine will pick up the backup later.
