The computing giant has acquired Encentuate, which offers technology for identity and access management

IBM has acquired the single-sign-on security vendor Encentuate for an undisclosed sum.

Encentuate's software manages user passwords, sign-ons and sign-offs while enforcing security policies. It also allows log-in attempts to be tracked for auditing purposes.

IBM plans to integrate Encentuate's identity and access management technology into IBM Tivoli Access Manager suite, the company said on Wednesday.

"IBM has made a strategic decision to acquire Encentuate because customers are increasingly seeking a complete identity and access management solution with IBM support," said Al Zollar, general manager of IBM Tivoli software.

IBM will also integrate Encentuate's technology into IBM Tivoli Identity Manager, IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager, IBM Tivoli Compliance Insight Manager and IBM Tivoli Security Operations Manager.
