Those seeking to run Linux on their netbook have a new option: Moblin. Rupert and Charles take the beta for a spin and compare it to Ubuntu's netbook remix.

Thanks guys, this was an excellent overview, in addition to being entertaining, as usual. I had been very curious about Moblin, and you saved me from strugging to load it on my HP Mini-Note.
It seems to me that there is an interesting diversion between Moblin and Ubuntu Netbook Remix in the way that they perceive the user. UNR seems to start from the assumption that the user is at least somewhat computer literate, and builds on known foundations. Moblin seems to toss almost everything that has come before out the window, and start from a new perspective. This could be good in bringing in new users, and particularly on new devices such as televisions and other consumer electronic devices, as you mentioned. But I wonder if they will alienate a lot of current computer users at the same time? As I was looking at your video, I found myself thinking that all of those odd looking icons didn't seem particularly appealing to me.
