Maker Faire 2011 in San Mateo, California has shown off another weird and wonderful array of DIY innovation.
More than 100,000 people were expected at the sixth annual event, which took place on Saturday and Sunday.
Maker Faire is a diverse mix of science, engineering, design and art — with everything from robots and knitting to steam rollers. The event is an otherworldly extravaganza that attracts both kids and adults.
This year's Faire featured four realistic beeping R2-D2s twirling around through the gawking crowds.
