Just the same, but I now switched to Eudora. Hopefully there will be a nice opensource soon. I checked www.sourceforge.com but didn't find any. I believe the opensource version (yet not always perfect) are much faster in their implementations of user requirements. But for now no Outlook Express for me. Microsoft is just spoiling it. They should consern themselves with customer demands. Yet I have never seen SPAM filtering unless you install third party add-ons. I know of more missing features but I'll not bore you with it, since you probably know some too.
The internet community has created an extensive wishlist for the next Outlook Express. I sure hope Microsoft will take this in consideration. It's posted on their own forums!

What's going on in Redmond?
"Communication problems"? Isn't Outlook Express specifically for communication?

IncrediMail is the answer!
Nicer and more friendly than OE.
IncrediMail or PocoMail use either one and you'll not need to talk about OE any longer.
I have Outlook, but I want something simple, fast, and easy for my email. I am not interested in HotMail or MSN - popups and all kinds of garbage loading. OE works fine as is -I don't need any "improvements," but if its not available at least in its present incarnation, then I will look elsewhere. There are non-microsoft email products available, which I will try if MS drops Outlook Express. What's wrong with MS? Nevermind, I know - the $ God before everything - but they may miscalculate.
How *dare* they ask us to give up our email viruses!
Hello Angus, how about looking into Pegasus Mail v4.12a (Generation Four), one of the most popular freeware e-mail pioneers.
Let's first all say it together "LONG LIVE OPENSOURCE"
You can also learn more about other email clients too here at
http://cws.internet.com/mail.html
Ragbir :-)
Perhaps people power can make Microsoft continue to Internet Exporer to be a free-standing product.
One word, "Sylpheed", it's an open source mail client.
Mozilla Mail (www.mozilla.com) has everything Outlook Express has, and it's being heavilly improved by the community.
Do you demand even more? Something like Outlook? Switch to Linux and use Evolution.
Remember: you loose nothing for trying!
Drop IE! Use Firebird (www.mozilla.org)
And the security problems will continue...!
I say, let Outlook Express--and its equally buggy cousin, Outlook--die on the vine. There are many fine alternate IMAP email clients, such as KMail, Ximian Evolution, Mozilla Mail, etc. And you don't need to buy a MS Office license to use them, either. Not only that, these other IMAP clients, not being a part of Internet Exploder, are free from the security...ahem, "issues" that so many users experience.
For those who say, "Well, Microsoft is the standard", to you I say, these days, it doesn't have to be. They used to write decent code once upon a time. They no longer do. We have real alternatives that actually work very well, even if you feel the need to run them on Windows (I don't--I've chosen FreeBSD).
Don't you know that NO American will EVER admit to being wrong about ANYTHING?
"I made a mistake",says some crook, caught in the act....That's as far as any of them will go...
OK HERE IS MY COMPLAINT:
I UNINSTALLED IE6 AND THEN REINSTALLED IT AGAIN.
NOW WHEN I CLICK ON THE 'TOO' MENU TO SEND AN OUTLOOK EXRESS LINK TO MY FRIEND IT WON'T BRING IT UP.
I CLICK ON 'TOOLS' THEN 'INTERNET OPTIONS' THEN ON 'PROGRAMS' AND 'OUTLOOK EXPRESS AND HOTMAIL' ARE THERE BUT NOT OUTLOOK EXPRESS'/
PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO GET IT BACK INTO PROGRAMS SO I CAN EITHER SEND A LINK VIA OUTLOOK EXPRESS TO A FRIEND OR BE ABLE TO CLICK ON SOMEONES EMAIL ADDRESS WITHIN THE WEB SITE AND SEND THEM AN EMAIL. help help help
I love Incredimail, the only problem is that most virus scanners, Do Not support it. That begins to create a problem. Outlook Express is at least supported by virus makers. Forget the virus scanner for Incredimail. It is a joke.
Give me OUTLOOK Express, or give me DEATH!
We just installed Office 2003 and had planned on using Outlook instead of Outlook Express. Neither of us are all that impressed with Outlook. Outlook does have some very good features, but I find it more difficult to work with it. OE is very easy to work with, with the exception of it crashing so easy. What will we stay with? Not certain at this time, but the lady of the house wants to stay with OE~
Have been on Lycos for one year using Outlook Express and am devastated that I cant get it anymore...will someone please tell me how to get it from somewhere
Please! Do not do away with Outlook Ezpress! I've been using it for several years and think it's the best. Before that I was on AOL, but like this much better.
At present, after having work done on my system, I lost something on Outlook Express. I am unable to use the "sent" feature, and sometimes the "send" feature. It is really messed up. I must have my Outlook Exp. Please tell me what to do and who to turn to for help. I need these feature to run my book business. I am an author and sell my own books. When my computer messed up, things fell apart for awhile, but now this.
Help!
I have been trying Outlook 2003 for a week and Eudora 6.1 also. No matter how hard I want to like them, they just don't compare to MOE for raw speed in downloading 5,000 emails at a time. MOE is much cleaner. It never locks up or feels clunky like Outlook and Eudora do. They have more bells and whistles, but for someone who receives tons of email every day.
MOE is still the fastest gun in the west, and the best.
I'm just going back to it right now and I have a huge grin on my face.
I only wish that I could access it. Everytime I try, my password is rejected. What is the problem? I prefer Incredimail but that too has caused problems. It will nor recognise my ISP. What shall I try next. Is there anybody out there who can help.
P.S.
Is it true what is being said about Incredimail?
Outlook Express will not connect me to
ANYONE, and it never has done.
Outlook Express does no want to send out any of my e,mail. It has never worked for me !
I am looking for help with Outlook Express. This is my first visit.
I need to print out 3 different "groups" All I get are the names, no email addresses. I need both. Would you have an answer. If I could print the block of information that appears when you hover the mouse over the groups name, that would help. But, it goes away when the mouse is moved.
