Irish company Steorn claims to have invented a device that produces more energy than it consumes. Such claims have always proved false in the past, leading to a great deal of scepticism around the recent claims, which hasn't been helped by the company's secretiveness and rather idiosyncratic behaviour since its initial announcement last summer. However, the company has said it will demonstrate its device in public from 4 July onwards at the Kinetica gallery in east London. We popped over to see what the fuss was about.
The demonstration device, called Orbo, is the small Perspex wheel mounted inside the large Perspex box. It is supposed to turn under its own power, but was stationary at the time of the photograph.
