The TravelMate 6493 (centre) has a 14.1-inch screen and takes up to 2GB of DDR3 1066MHz memory, again upgradeable to 4GB. The machine weighs from 2.37kg, depending on the configuration.

To the 6493's left is the TravelMate 6593, which has a 15.4-inch screen. Unlike the 6493, which uses the Intel GM45 chipset for integrated 3G graphics and DirectX 10 support, the 6593 has as an option for a discrete ATI Radeon HD 3470 graphics card, which can support DirectX 10.1. The 6593 weighs from 2.9kg.

As with several of the models in the range, the 6493 uses Acer's FineTouch keyboard design, which has a five-degree curve for ergonomic reasons.
