Microsoft has launched a new technology to help keep laptops cooler.
The company on Tuesday introduced its first Notebook Cooling Base, an inch-thick stand with built-in fan. Offered in white and black, the laptop-chiller is powered over a USB connection. The device will go on sale in the US.

I'll give 2 days before it crashed.
err... why?
There is nowt wrong with the traditional mouse. Logitech's V220 is perfect for use with a laptop, although personally I find a mouse very awkward compared to a trackball. I have a full size trackball in the bag with my laptop - if your laptop bag is so short on space that you can't fit in full size HIDs, then get a bigger bag.
Hardly new - there are 4 other lap top ramps/coolers out there that I know of, some with useful quasi-docking station facilities and adjustable tilt (I like 8cms minimum raise at the back of my LT, so this MS offering is a too low) for half this price. True, none I know has a fan, but how essential is this really? I seem to be always looking for more USB ports (I have 4 and they are not always enough) Giving up one just as a power outlet is not attractive.
Surely by now they could have designed a solar powered fan for something this size?
Also, the photos confuse me - there appears to be two completely different products shown?
... continuation to last entry. Ah yes, I stand self -corrected on coment about pictures. Those strange things are Arc Mice - never met one but they seem expensive and look uncomfortable - I guess they fold.
