That's OK, they can carry on squabbling. I'll just buy and use devices which have hard discs inside them.
As long as there are unified players and records, that can read and write to both types, then i dont really see a problem here.
Making a unified player and recorder that can support both players, costs more money and slows the time-to-market of the new product. They are just trying to avoid the previous fiasco that gave birth to DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RAM, etc, etc. If they decide on one format now we will have dirt cheap players, recorders and media in a very short time, but if not it will take longer and cost more.
