Nowhere on this page does it say how long this video is. Can ZDNet add something like this to its page template? It'll help users decide whether to 'commit' playing the video. It's also good usability.
Perhaps add it to the summary text? Add a counter to the end of the progress bar?
Okay, it's no biggie, but it might encourage more people to watch videos on your site. Web 2.0 debate can be...'challenging' shall we say - so why not give us heads up on how long the clip is.

You'll find that immediately you do click on the video to play it, a count-down timer appears to show how much time is left to play. We'll look at making that visible before you click.
While I appreciate the value of video streaming, in an office environment this can prove distracting to other staff members. In addition, I often prefer to take in the text at my own pace.

We'll look at adding that - we did talk about it during the redesign process last year, but the capability was one of the bits that unfortunately got culled close to launch. It's a trivial job to reinstate it, so yes, and we'll look at the best way of doing so.
Another option is deep linking similar to this <A href="http://www.veotag.com/player/?pid=7edc52d3-d397-49db-9adb-c6c6cfb97291 ">Veotag example</A> of Google VP Marissa Mayer, which I find works well for navigating a long piece of video. The drawback is that it uses ActiveX, so you either have to use IE to view it or get a plugin for Firefox.
Providing users with subtitles is also more accessible for users with disabilities. A downloadable document is even better for a visually impaired user's screen reading software.
Okay, so it may be overkill, but most resource led govt sites are requierd to offer it. Seeing as ZDNET is a must have resource, this can only be good PR for you.
