Nineteen vendors have won a place on a two-year pan-government applications framework deal worth up to £1bn.
The government procurement agency awarded places on its software application solutions framework to: Accenture, Bramble.cc, CACI, Capgemini, Capita, Connect Internet Solutions, Deloitte MCS, Detica, HP Enterprise Services, Fujitsu Services, Hitachi Consulting, IBM, IPL Information Processing, Kainos, Methods Consulting, Mouchel, Northgate, Reading Room and SciSys.
The contract is split into six lots: bespoke applications; customer/citizen relationship management and case management; document and records management; HR, finance, procurement, transactions management and ERP; information management applications; and web design and content management services.
Some vendors won places in more than one category, with Accenture, Capgemini, Fujitsu Services and Mouchel listed in all six, according to a notice in the Official Journal of the European Union on 22 January.
"Framework procurements from Buying Solutions make most sense for commoditised products, such as licences, and least sense for complex services such as software development," said Stephen Roberts, principal analyst at Kable.
"This software applications award falls between the two extremes: we would be surprised if eventual usage of the framework matches the headline £1bn value. The roster represents a comprehensive, but by no means exhaustive, selection of supplier competencies."
