Microsoft has begun the process of paying Windows Phone 7 developers for their work, three months after the first apps appeared on Microsoft's mobile applications marketplace.
According to ZDNet UK's sister site, CNET News, most Windows Phone 7 app developers interviewed say they have had a positive experience working with Microsoft. They also said that expectations had been met in terms of early sales. The key complaint across the board, however, continues to be size. The number of users with a Windows Phone 7 is simply not as large as it is for competing platforms, which is to be expected given that it launched just a few months ago.
Last week, Microsoft announced that it had sold two million of the devices to manufacturers and carriers, meaning the actual user base that is buying and downloading marketplace apps is somewhere below that. However, Microsoft does not share data such as activation numbers or retail sales figures.
