The Big Brother Web site is the UK's fastest growing Web according to Internet researchers MMXI, outstripping even the popular Lastminute.com site. The Channel Four Web site offering live coverage of the Big Brother household went straight in at number 26 in the July 2000 rankings -- while Lastminute only made it to 35 -- and has remained in the top 50 sites since its July launch. An astonishing 874,000 unique visitors, or 8.1 percent of home Internet users have visited the Big Brother site, which is proving more popular than established sites like Lastminute.com. Its parent Channel Four Web site has also benefited, with its 148,000 visitors in June dramatically increased to 740,000 visitors in July. Seventy-seven percent of Channel Four's visitors are clicking onto the BigBrother.terra.com site. UK men have emerged as more voyeuristic than women, making up 67 percent of the audience. The Big Brother phenomenon is gripping obsessive Internet users around the world. In March, the German Web site had 1,419,000 visitors, and in the US the bigbrother2000.com site has received 4,249,000 visitors to date. In both the UK and the US, Big Brother is proving most popular amongst the 24-35 age group. Throughout July MSN.com held top position in MMXI Europe's UK rankings, receiving 4,121,000 visitors throughout the month. Yahoo.com ran a close second, attracting 4,058,000 Internet users.
