A few recommendations:
Drop the entire Patent directive because whatever will be left of it will get exploited and abused to the max. So far the world has seen enough demonstrations of what kind of weird reasoning will get political approval if there's enough corporate money behind it.
If there must be a Patent directive then make a directive that invalidates all already granted software patents along with dismantling the current organizational structures of the various patent offices that caused this mess to begin with.
