Talkback
Here we are, almost near the end of the year, and Check Point *still* has yet to get their act together regarding ZoneAlarm Pro for Vista. Why?
They weakly claim that they want to make sure they put out a fully workable product and not "rush" it to market before it's ready for prime time. That's all well and good, but they've had plenty of time to prepare. Check Point's lolly-gagging on this issue is symptomatic of a larger issue within the anti-virus, firewall manufacturer's community. The lame excuse given by Check Point and others just does not fly in light of the fact that Microsoft's "Longhorn" had been in beta testing stage for quite some time. Compounding Check Point's ZoneAlarm Pro fiasco, is the fact that when they release their beta version [7.1] of ZoneAlarm Pro ("Vista Compatible"), they left plenty of people without "outbound" protection once the beta version of ZAP had expired. No extension. No support. No nothing! Inexcusable! Excuses and delays in today's highly toxic Internet environment just doesn't cut it.
By the way, their solution? "Buy our all-in-one Internet Security Suite and you'll have firewall, virus and malware protection." No thanks, I already have the latter two, and don't plan on removing them just to have your firewall. The original developers of ZAP would have NEVER left their loyal customers in such a pickle. Check Point is NOT ready for the big time.
Zone Labs is consumer focused. Check Point needs to permit Zone Labs to "do their thing" for them to remain successful.
