NEWS Transport for London is planning to tender for two major voice and data network contracts worth up to £150m.
In separate pre-tender notices in the Official Journal of the European Union, TfL says it is likely to seek a managed service provider for data infrastructure and voice communication services, as well as framework agreements for a range of communications equipment.
The first notice, with an estimated value of between £30m and £75m, says that the capital's transport authority is seeking a provider with knowledge of emerging technologies and creative ideas and products to manage its voice and data network.
TfL intends that the contract will rationalise and simplify a number of voice and data networks, in accordance with its "architectural governance structure".
In the second potential deal, TfL says it wants to set up framework contracts with a number of suppliers to work with its internal and external suppliers to deliver network support. Overall, the business could be worth between £40m and £75m.
In addition to TfL, the Greater London Authority, London's emergency services and borough councils are among the organisations which could use the framework deals.
