These are a few of my favourite things...

Blog Audacity: Audio wave editor, simple, multi-channel, free. IRC, Jabber (Google) etc. Gnome Do: Miraculous quick app starter, a la QuickSilver. Alternatively, you can call it an Intelligent Launcher Tool.
