BI vendor bends to support mainframe chipset
Blog I see news of a BI vendor fashioning its core offering to support a powerful mainframe chipset. So just yesterday I was rambling on about data event management and RDBMS’s that juggle huge throughput workload spikes - and today it’s a case of more...

RE: XP for eXcluded People?
Blog Comment I dont understand the link between the Santa Rosa chipset and SATA disk drives? Firstly Santa Rosa is the platform for the processor not the chipset. The chipset is a term usually used to refer to the north and south bridges on the motherboard...

Intel to tackle AMD in 'ultrathin' market
Blog AMD, having annoyed tech taxonomists everywhere by launching its Athlon Neo chipset for the 'ultrathin' category of notebooks (cheaper than an ultraportable, more highly specced than a netbook), already has Intel snapping at its heels.

Netgear WGT624
Member Review Bought a DLink DI624 (same chipset) and have the same problems. So it's a chipset hardware bug. Three months now and things are going downhill, First week it worked great, since then nothing but problems.

RE: HP 2133 Mini-Note: Lessons Learned
Blog Comment As of today I would tell you one thing: Do NOT get any devices with VIA chipset / graphics. I gave up - well, I will see once 9.04 will be in beta stage or close to release - on the UMPC 704 roverpc with the same VIA chipset and graphics.

Microsoft moves to integrate Windows with BIOS
Talkback The only thing which will prevent free and open solutions is if motherboard chipset info is not available. If the chipset manufacturers supply details to M$ but not anyone else, I think they would be liable to legal action in any civilised country.

Windows 8/2012- Intel graphics driver support
Talkback In 2012 Intel have better things to be spending their time on new 3d mobile graphics chipsets which came out to compete with nvidia ion 9400M mobile chipset and amd's ATI Mobility Radeon 4850/4870 Chipset.

Rupert Goodwins' Diary
Blog Although Intel will happily sell you one, it won’t sell you the supporting chipset needed to make it do anything other than paperweight duty, nor a board to plug it into. The only people who do make such a chipset - and thus the only customers for...

RE: Linux on the HP 2133 Mini-Note, Part 1
Blog Comment As I said in the initial review, this HP 2133 is a bit long in the tooth as netbooks go, and pretty unusual in that it uses the VIA CPU and chipset rather than an Atom CPU and more "standard" Intel chipset.

Windows 7 is a Zune player in the 2009 'Ipod' World
Talkback Windows 7 installation (which is very straightforward), though still lacks drivers (Older Intel 82855/915/945 full Chipset support looks unlikely) worked well. Talk of intel not providing drivers for 915/945 Chipsets even though they sold 14m...

Dell Dimension 8300
Member Review The 8300 is equiped with latest Intel chipset 875P and is capable of running FSB of 533/800 and the latest Intel P4 processor with HT Technology. This is a great PC for home use or business. I got my 8300 a few weeks ago and it works perfectly fine.

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
Member Review I've been testing the full release version that came from MSDN and the Opteron (AMD 8000 chipset) drivers are dreadful. The USB service keeps hanging (on and after installation) and you need to restart the system to get it working again.
