Average home user installing drivers in Linux, pffft!
Talkback The only driver I have had to install, in the last 3 years, has been video drivers, and my distro tells me there is a proprietary driver available and would I like to use it. Pretty obvious you haven't used Linux recently.

It helps to have the drivers' source code available to study.
Talkback The goal for all Linux drivers is (theoretically) to become merged with the main kernel sources, at which point their code is subjected to exactly the same scrutiny as the rest of the kernel's code. I think that the real risk being described by...

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
Member Review I've been testing the full release version that came from MSDN and the Opteron (AMD 8000 chipset) drivers are dreadful. I'd wait another 6 months until drivers are sorted before trying it again. The USB service keeps hanging (on and after...

Pocketop Portable Keyboard
Member Review Like the previous poster, support for this sucks big time -- Pocketop don't respond to emails, and expect customers to fork out for a correct driver, too (even though my PDA, the Mitax Mio 338, was explicitly mentioned on the keyboard packaging as...
