Model-driven development - Embedded v/s Enterprise software
Blog I was pleasantly surprised to see the level of sophistication as well as adoption of MDD in the Embedded field. As basic hardware systems become more and more “intelligent” via embedded software it was probably imperative that people like Telegic...

Embedded computing to boom in Europe
Talkback It is inappropriate to cite MS, a no-show in the embedded market. Wind River, QNX or just about any other embedded systems company on the planet has a more central role in embedded technology than the behemoth in Redmond and would have made a more...

Windows Embedded: Seeds of Hope for Student Developers?
Blog So ranting aside, the ‘Embedded Development’ category appears to stand out in this year’s Imagine Cup. This portion of the competition challenges students to go beyond the PC/desktop and work in both hardware and software to build an embedded...

Is embedded software just not sexy?
Blog Does embedded software just not seem to be as sexy and interesting as its surface-installed cousin? It could be the apparent lack of ‘tangibility’ that may be perceived with embedded. It could be the fact that embedded software often resides in...

RE: Is embedded software just not sexy?
Blog Comment I think you've hit the nail on the head - the best embedded software is the type of thing that we don't even think about because it just works. Hey there, Do you think about software architecture when you toast your bagels - well, you shouldn't.

Robots and embedded software for personalised crumpet toasties
Blog I’ve been engaged in fair bit of discussion over embedded software these last few days - not surprising perhaps if you consider the fact that the Embedded Systems Conference is taking place in San Jose this week.

Windows XP Embedded Standard 2009 CTP#1 & CTP#2
Blog them that Windows XP Embedded was finally going to get IE7 in component form, the MS marketing nimrods got into the mix and decided to change the name of the product AND take the previously promised but canceled FP2008 and turn it into Windows XP...

RE: Is embedded software just not sexy?
Blog Comment As to "sexy" embedded software? But as you mentioned most embedded software is "invisible". The product line I have most experience with is Windows XP Embedded which really is just XP Pro in components.

iPass: We like embedded 3G now
Blog At the time, they said it was not sensible for businesses to buy laptops with embedded 3G/HSDPA/HSUPA/etc, largely because - as the preceding acronymic string suggests - a newer, better standard gets released roughly every few seconds.

GNOME to fish in embedded Linux pond
Talkback Yawn. I wouldn't have expected such anti-Qt FUD from someone so high in GNOME hierarchy. It really gets old. Someone with practical experience knows that the productivity gain of Qt is much more important than the license fee you have to pay (if...

GNOME to fish in embedded Linux pond
Talkback Well it seems to be far from reality. If you count the number of application crash events just due to the interface library used and classify them based on the library used, GTK+ will have a greater share.

EC gets stuck in to XP Embedded
Talkback Sorry but I have to say I am very happy that Microsoft provide the best Windows AV player Free with the OS. When I buy a car it has CD\Tape\radio pre installed. I can change it if I want but the manufacturers provides one to make it easier.

Talkback Mr Lincoln's and Mr Bleasdale's comment above miss the point. Mr Bleasedale's analogy with the car industry is misleading, since he completely fails to mention that the car industry is not 95% owned by one company.
