Talkback yes, IE has holes, but they all require either very obscure conditions to be effective (how many readers had their banking info stolen due to one of its flaws? or truly newbie users.as the article mentions, you're really in trouble if you don't run...

IE stagnation spells trouble for all concerned

Talkback I recently tried out Firefox instead of IE. Even with the short time I have used it, I am so happy with it that I have now installed it on all the PCs we use.

IE stagnation spells trouble for all concerned

Talkback I've been using IE for about 3 yrs now and preferred it over Netscape and other browsers becos of its simplicity and speed. I've found it to be faster, easier to use and has some really good features which IE doesnt.

IE only as a last resort

Talkback Occasionally I have to use the IE6 rendering engine with Firefox (using IE Tab) either because the page won't display correctly in Firefox, or because it uses ActiveX controls. I use Firefox, which I prefer to IE7.

IE rivals squabble over browser award

Talkback The point to remember here is that both Firefox and Opera are better and safer browsers the IE. Just try them both and make your own choice. And do not forget Konqueror if you are a Linux user.

Last weeks lesson: IE only web sites are a very bad thing.

Blog The recent vulnerability in Internet Explorer (IE), followed by the rapid spread of the exploit mostly via hacked web sites led to most experts, myself included in full BBC media-tart mode, to advise not to use IE until it is patched which...

IE 8

Talkback My main concern over this IE 8 browser still exists and no-one,so far,has said anything to the contrary.Once a person installs IE 8,there is no way to uninstall after that,it's there permanent.Unlike 5-6 or 7 versions which can,if one wishes...

IE flaws open back door to adware

Talkback IE needs to be fixed NOW! This happened to me last week and cost me a week's work. Norton Antivirus does not even detect the installed adware because it is an "Extended Threat". I had to manually remove everything.

IE is broken: can you fix it?

Talkback I agree with CERT, IE is a hackers dream and a users nightmare in its current form, MS really need to take it in hand and give it a thorough overhall before it can be considered as a safe and realistic browsing solution in the current market.

IE is broken: can you fix it?

Talkback maybe this is a stupid question but if IE cannot be installed from windows does that mean that your win box is always going to be unsecure. Can the IE processes only be started from the client machine.

IE is broken: can you fix it?

Talkback The reason hackers/crackers, or whatever you want to call them, exploit IE is because it's used by the overwhelming majority of internet users. You have neglected to mention the tight integration of IE to Windows.

IE has more competition

Talkback I have to admit that, being a Mac user, I haven't had to use IE for quite some time since Microsoft stopped supporting it on a Mac. Thanks for the link Chris, i can waste away a few more hours a week.

IE would still be required

Talkback Since many Microsoft (and other) web pages are unusable with rival browsers such as Firefox, it will be necessary for most if not all people to have IE installed anyway. Whilst I'm no great fan of IE, it would help if the EC would take the trouble...

RE: Last weeks lesson: IE only web sites are a very bad thing.

Blog Comment What makes me laugh is sites that only work in IE use the excuse that only a tiny percentage of their users use any other browser. That might just have a little do with the fact that their site appears broken in other browsers and so they are...

Browser shoot-out: IE 7 v Firefox 2

Talkback However, more things work in IE 6 than IE 7 or FireFox (in my experience anyway). This simple fact is why I use IE 6. Tab surfing is clearly the way forward.

Firefox snaps at IE's heels

Thinking of ditching IE? Think again

Talkback Of course you keep IE around: generally you have to or the manual Windows Update site doesn't work. However as an IT programmer, consultant and contractor of years standing, I come across an IE only site of any worth once in a blue moon now.
