Lycos anti-spam campaign bites the dust
Talkback Taking the spammers side against the Lycos screensaver is the same as encouraging burglars to sue for injury when they trip over your doormat. The only wrongs here are the people who send out this stuff.

Lycos launches anti-spam zombie army
Talkback I fully endorse this method - well done Lycos; politicians, organisations, companies, and institutions are either powerless or too pathetic to address the whole spamming issue - so power to the people.

Lycos launches anti-spam zombie army
Talkback My idea: Join Lycos Mail. I've been a user since nearly 1999 and never (not once, surprisingly) received any spam. I use Yahoo Mail too and recommend them, but have on occassion gotten spam (not in months now).

Talkback Much better than the screensaver, which Lycos seems to have simply copied. Visit www.spamitback.com.

Lycos should send its zombie army home
Talkback I have to say that Lycos is in the right ball park. DDoS is not an issue, since the spammers are NOT legit. NO LEGIT COMPANY SPAMS, so therefore their servers are not legit and should be removed from the internet.

Lycos denies attack on zombie army
Talkback Go to http://lycos.co.uk. I think the joke is on Lycos. Click on the Make Love Not Spam link and it takes you to http://makelovenotspam.com/intl/direct.html? lang=en®ion=uk, which is broken. Shorten it to http://makelovenotspam.com/ and you get...

Lycos zombie army takes Web sites offline
Talkback Well done Lycos - you have even made the internet gurus, who have sat on their hands for so long get off them - if only to wring them on behalf of the spammers. The only good spammer is an offline one!

Lycos should send its zombie army home
Talkback I've no desire to defend Lycos, but didn't they say that their aim is not to take the spammer's web servers down, but only to use up a little bandwidth so that the spammer's have to face a financial cost to their enterprise?

Lycos launches anti-spam zombie army
Talkback We're not defending the spammers, we're just saying that this process Lycos had dreamed up is badly designed and irresponsible. Also if the program can transmit the information regarding the sites it's attacking then what's to stop Lycos taking...

Lycos anti-spam campaign bites the dust
Talkback What ever the perceived faults of the Lycos plans are, I still throw my resounding support behind industry initiatives like this. Granted the Lycos initiative may be cowboyesque in its own way, but action must be taken against the bandwidth sapping...

Lycos anti-spam campaign bites the dust
Talkback I am very surprised at the resistance Lycos received for "makelovenotspam". You can argue about legality all day long, but you can't avoid the simple fact that Lycos came up with the best way (so far) to combat the problem.
