HSBC accuses rivals of security 'arms race'

Talkback I have to agree with the other comments. Surely the banks have a duty of care to give their customers the best protection they can, as quickly as they can. If some banks are able to react quickly, then they should do it.

HSBC's bankrupt security thinking

Talkback Thank you for your comments. We can only go on the information that we are given by the people involved, and in his speech and interview afterwards Brendan Pickering did not raise any objections to two factor authentication itself.

HSBC home banking web site trojan "false report",says bank

Blog Comment Then that's a pretty bad false positive. Sometimes removing a false positive can be devastating. Not so in this case I assume. Still, the words 'Trojan' and 'Online banking' send a shiver down the old spine.

HSBC's bankrupt security thinking

Talkback I am looking for some clarification on Asec Mann's comments. I understand that two factor authentication is no guaranty that there will not be some other security breach but it is an improvement over single factor authentication from a security...

HSBC accuses rivals of security 'arms race'

Talkback What a spectacularly stupid argument! They might as well ask why the other banks keep their money in safes - it's just encouraging thieves to steal it from the ones that leave money lying about on the floor.

HSBC accuses rivals of security 'arms race'

Talkback I notice that their only concern is how they look, not the safety of their customers' money. And I notice their blindness that does not realise that their very statement reveals that they are behind the game, and asleep at the wheel.

Talkback Given that both Novell and HSBC are sucking wind right now this is fairly meaningless. HSBC is losing tons of cash on subprime mortgages as that entire industry is imploding. Novell has been in a very slow, agonizing death spiral since the...
