The Range of Linux Distributions

Blog I have heard the same comments on other blog posts, and in fact I have seen the same sort of "issues" with my Lifebook S2110 (often because of the ATI display adapter). The advantage is that you end up with a tight system that doesn't contain a lot...

Samsung Q1 Ultra review

Reviews If you carry both batteries, the travel weight comes in just over a kilogram — similar to Fujutsu Siemens’ LifeBook P1510 convertible ultraportable Tablet PC. Don’t expect to be able to work at speed with this keypad, though: the basics of data...

Vista vs. XP: The Final Retreat

Blog My Fujitsu Lifebook S6510 is running Windows XP Professional again, and I have no intention of spending any more time or effort on Vista until Vista SP2 comes out, at which point I might consider it again.

openSUSE 11.0 First Impressions

Blog The installation only took about 15 minutes on the newer Lifebook S6510 (Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz) laptop. When I checked the display settings, it looked like the problem was that it hadn't identified the monitor correctly.

Lenovo ThinkPad X60s review

Reviews The VAIO VGN-TX2XP/L and the LifeBook P7120 are smaller and lighter, yet both manage to incorporate an optical drive -- although they do have smaller displays. Aside from the missing optical drive already mentioned, the ThinkPad X60s's connections...

Netgear WNDR3300 RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router

Blog First, of course, was my primary laptop, the Lifebook S6510 with a built-in Intel 4965AGN wireless adapter. As I said, I don't use the "Setup Wizard" CD, After connecting an RJ-45 cable from my laptop to the router, I logged in to the router...

Analyst: Transmeta should drop out of PCs

News Fujitsu's new LifeBook P-2040 includes an 800MHz TM5800 chip, and the LifeBook P-1000 uses a 700MHz TM5500 chip. When Transmeta launched, Intel and AMD did not offer much in the way of low-power chips for lightweight laptops, but they have been...

Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook P7010 review

Reviews With a MobileMark 2002 score of 146, the LifeBook P7010 is hardly on the bleeding edge of notebook performance (top-scoring systems currently achieve over 200). The LifeBook P7010 comes with a three-year, worldwide collect-and-return warranty.

BSOD and Devices

Talkback I bought a brand new Fujitsu Lifebook S6510, preloaded with Vista Business. I never thought about it that way before, maybe Linksys knew something about Vista at the beginning that the rest of us didn't figure out for quite a while, and they were...

Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) - Mixed Impressions

Blog I have installed Karmic on my Fujitsu S6510 Lifebook, HP 2133 Mini-Note, HP Pavillion dv2-1010ez, and ASUS N10J, with only the few problems mentioned above. I don't do upgrades on this kind of software, so I have no direct experience with that, but...

Vista SP1 - No Go for Me at the Moment

Blog I had reloaded the Vista disk for my Lifebook S6510 a week or so ago, so that I would have a fresh load ready for update. Today it became available.and although I checked Microsoft Update today, it didn't show up as an optional update.

The Range of Linux Distributions

Blog Comment I had significant problems even on my "normal" Lifebook S6510, with an Intel CPU, graphic adapter and wireless interface, and it wouldn't even make a respectable attempt at the S2110 laptop. Likewise, it works flawlessly on my Lifebook S2110, which...

Windows Driver Updates

Blog Because of my recent adventures with Windows Vista on my Lifebook, I've had to learn about and deal with the differences between Vista and XP in third-party device driver distribution and updates. Windows XP is very "laissez-faire" about such...

Wireless Network Flakiness

Blog As I mentioned a few months ago, after returning from the U.S.with my new Fujitsu Lifebook S6510, this laptop has Wireless-N networking. I had seen what I considered to be a few minor problems, but I didn't give them much thought.

Triple Boot Ubuntu/Vista/XP - No Go So Far

Blog After several days of struggle, I am still unable to get a triple-boot disk set up on my Fujitsu Lifebook S6510. That's no good for me in this case, as it causes one to install over the other, and I haven't found a way to trick the recovery...

Quad-Boot Fun, and A Correction

Blog I now have my Fujitsu Lifebook S6510 set up to quad-boot XP/Ubuntu/openSuSE/Mandriva! I was completely wrong; the problem wasn't in the boot setup, it was earlier than that. I chose edit, and didn't realize that what it gave me to edit already...

Vista SP1 Installed, Working OK So Far

Blog The installation of Vista SP1 completed normally on my Lifebook S6510, and it seems to be running normally for the time being. However, Vista is still displaying one symptom that I find irritating, which the other two don't have.

Wireless-N Networking and Linux

Blog I am doing this testing on my primary laptop, a Fujitsu Lifebook S6510, with a built-in Intel 4965AGN wireless adapter. I don't know if this means it really will not connect at a higher speed, or if the Linux driver simply doesn't know how to...

Mixed Wireless G/N Networks

Blog I noticed that my Lifebook S6510, which has an Intel 4965 AGN wireless adapter, would only connect to the Linksys router at a maximum of 130Mb/sec, whereas it connects to the Netgear at a maximum of 270Mb/sec.

SP3 Under Suspicion Again

Blog I had been running this Fujitsu Lifebook S6510 with Windows XP Professional for several months when SP3 came out. This time I didn't let it install SP3 at all, I just forced it to install all of the SP2 updates.
