Story: SCO vs the Linux world…What's a Linux user to do?
Thomas,
Your provided an excellent perspective on the suit. While it might seem biased by many, I see no way to justify SCO's unwillingness to point out the offending code. As a longtime (since 92) Linux user, I find SCO to be just another greedy tech company hoping to salvage the remnants of a dying commodity. I have not heard nor read any commentary on just why they chose to wait so long to bring suit. SCO did have their own distribution (via Caldera) and ought to have known full well that offending code was present. If they failed to act in due time then the GPL seems to the the over-riding license rather than their proprietary license. Am I wrong?
Thanks for the fine article.
Cheers,
Patrick
