A good analysis. Despite all the facts you point out it has been a very worthwhile gambit for SCO management. They will most likely lose their case , but the shareholders who have cashed in already will have done well, and there is still an
outside chance they might win some damages or sell some licenses.
Certainly a better business decision than just going out of business. The only way this sort of behaviour could be prevented is by making the managers personally liable for any money they raise through licenses if the court ruling goes against them
