Story: UK law smashes consumer spam
It is crucial for IT departments to understand that there are methods of intercepting SPAM mail on their business email addresses. Email is a fundamental part of business to business marketing, and at least sense has prevailed to a certain degree. However, in the past week I have received nigh on 300 emails of which 20% have been spam of one sort or another, that I have not agreed to receive - and our organisation has methods in place to intercept most messages.
I do not believe that unsolicited mail will ever be stopped, even with legislations, routing the sending is far too difficult a process at this moment in time, therefore in the meantime, preventative action is the best method. Either using technology or educational systems whereby users are educated to protect themselves as much as possible against publicising their email address.
