Media Centre PCs? Naw, I am not falling for it: They still use that flaky Windows XP that has more patches than the quilt on my bed. It also promises much, but you can't even edit inside MY VIDEO. I have a PC running Win98 because that's the only version that has a proper driver for my HP 1120C A3 printer. My new WinXP machine seemed more stable at first, but then displayed an almost genetic ability to mimic Win98's little foibles. This means that I have two PCs to reboot periodically. I am also put off by my heroes at Zone Lab whose firewall runs something called VSMON.EXE which gobbles CPU, etc, etc, etc. What I am going to do is to buy an Apple MAC with a TV tuner - the new one with the 20" screen. I'll keep my PC for fan noises and Word Processing (I am NOT paying for yet another version of MSOffice). The Apple can burn real DVD's and has that marvellous IMOVIE facility..... As for all that Windows software that I own - I'll miss it about as much as I miss a headache. Well done, Mr Gates, this consumer finally got up and walked.....
