Story: Technology addiction makes us unwitting slaves

Freedom requires that we are able to make wrong choices as well as right. The idea that our current technological distopia is being somehow imposed on everyone is just plain shallow. It trivialises the realities of real physical addictions and at the same time stretches an analogy to ludicrous extremes.

Without this evil technology, would the author be able to disseminate his views quite so easily?
