do NOT buy a Media Center PC from Sony!!

Learn from my mistake, do NOT buy a Media Center PC from Sony because Sony does not upgrade the Media Center software when Microsoft comes out with a new version.

I have a Sony Media Center PC from Sony, and it's great except for the fact that I can't get the new version of Media Center. Microsoft has stated that the only way you can get an upgrade of Media Center is from your OEM, your PC manufacturer. (There is no retail version of the software.) Sony has announced that it isn't going to upgrade its customers who have Media Center 2004. So if you purchase a Media Center 2005 PC from Sony, do NOT expect to get the upgrade come 2006 or beyond.

I really love the Media Center experience, so I would recommend that you buy a PC from another PC manufacturer that does upgrade the Media Center software: (HP, Dell, Alienware, etc) Before you purchase a Media Center PC, find out if they have supported upgrades in the past.
